I spent the weekend attending our Central Conference Annual Meeting (aka “Celebration!”) at Glen Ellyn Covenant Church up in Chicago, and everyone up there says to say “Hi!” to all of you.  Well, actually, Pete Sjoblom’s first words to me when I walked in the door were, “Man, you look old!” but they were all much nicer about all of you...

Last Sunday, it snowed.  This Sunday, I was walking around in my shirtsleeves.  As I write this, I’m a little warm in my polo shirt.  It’s not so much that I think Winter hung on too long.  It’s more like I just kinda missed having a Spring between Winter and Summer...

I won’t talk about the snow...  I won’t talk about the snow...  I won’t talk about the snow...  I won’t talk about the snow...

Okay, I’d like to formally apologize to everyone for the snow.  I really like snow, and I’ve secretly been praying for more of it, so we keep having snow that comes in on a Sunday, stays for a day, and is gone by Monday evening.  That’s on me, and I’ll stop it now...

I’d love to talk about the bizarre hiccup of snow that we got again this weekend, but since that’s what I started with last week, then I’ll just wish you a very Happy Resurrection Sunday!

I love snow.  My family loves snow.  My dog loves snow (as those of you connected with me on Facebook have seen).  So this weekend has been a bizarre and wonderful hiccup of snow that we’ve been enjoying greatly.  For those of you who aren’t as happy about Saturday’s snowfall, then you can all look forward to the rain expected on Tuesday and the balmy weather expected on Wednesday to make it all go away.  Nothing good or bad in life lasts forever -- only God does -- so I kinda figure that it’s worth not getting lost in those exultations and frustrations as much as we usually do...

Okay, first things first -- thank you to everyone who came and helped us to clean out “Carol’s Closet” on Sunday after the service.  Longtime FCCer and patron saint of our Vacation Bible School Carol Johnson left not only a legacy of ministry and love for reaching out to children with the Gospel of Christ, but also a whole lot of really colorful stuff in her closet (and by “closet” here, we mean “her whole house”).  So on Sunday, the church building was overflowing with tables and racks neatly filled with dog costumes, designer dresses, stuffed animals, really really nice shoes, fascinating hats, cookbooks, and other spectacular items.  Personally, I donated $5.00 just to get a bee costume so that one of our Youth would wear it at their Wednesday night meeting this week...

Man, schedules are filling up fast in March around here...

Aaaaannnnndddd we’re back to snow.  I’m fine with that, but I know that it’s throwing a lot of other people around here.  Personally, I just think that God likes to throw the world a curve ball every once in a while...

I hope this Sunday Morning Update finds you healthy and whole.  For the second week in a row, it seems like half of our church family was out this week with colds, flus, injuries, or the like (though I know that a couple of families were off traveling as well).  Apparently, February is a dangerous time of the year.  But by the time you’re reading this, it may very well be March, so let’s not dwell on that...

This has been one of those weeks where it seems like everyone’s either getting sick, injured, or sick and injured.  One family actually had two members independently drop dumbbells on themselves on two unrelated occasions over the past week -- so read into that what you will...

This week is always a little special, so let me wish all of you a very Happy Valentine’s Day!  Yes, I know that not everyone enjoys Valentine’s Day, since it reminds some people that they have no “significant other” or that their relationships aren’t what they’d like them to be -- but that may be missing the original point of the day...

Welcome to February!  Suddenly, it’s snowing again, so for those of us who like that, it’s great to be back in wintertime again... though for those of us who don’t like that, it’s hard to be back in wintertime again...

I hope that this Update finds you healthy and joyful wherever you are today.  I know that we still have a handful of our FCCers out with the flu or other physical issues, but it was nice to see a fairly full house this week, as the majority of our church family hale and healthy...

After having been out last week with a sudden and rather nasty bout of the flu, it was (on so many levels) so nice to be healthy enough to be able to re-join everyone in worship this week!
