Miscellaneous Ministries
We have a number of different ministries going on in the background here at First Covenant Church--
Bel-wood Nursing Home: We meet at Bel-wood nursing home (see map) at 10:00 on the first Saturday morning of each month, just to connect with, pray for, and generally demonstrate the love of Christ to the residents there. We're not there to preach, but simply to be a loving smile. You'd be amazed at the profound power that the investment of just one hour a month can have. Loaves and Fishes Ministry: On the fourth Saturday of each month, we help take part in First United Methodist's "Loaves and Fishes" ministry, sharing food (and God's unconditional love) with Peoria's poor. And three times a year, we've committed to being the main work force for the morning. For more information, please contact Kelvin Wynn.
Peoria Rescue Mission: On the fourth Saturday of every other month (Feb., Apr., Jun., Aug., Oct., Dec.), we conduct the service for the men at Peoria Rescue Mission in downtown Peoria. It's a different small group from the church doing it each time, and we'd love for you to join us and see how much these men appreciate even the smallest bit of love. Peoria Central High School: We have officially "adopted" Peoria Central High School. We help with various events, support their teachers and students, provide speakers and helpers, and act as tutors and mentors for students who are struggling. These kids' world is full of people who don't care for them, so we want to show them something totally different. For more information, please contact Bob Schwab.
Service Ministries (contact Richard League)
We also desire to serve not only the community, but also our own church family in any way that we can. We've helped people put new roofs on their houses, we've helped people take the classes that they needed to get into the careers that they've aspired to, we've provided people with financial counseling, marital counseling, and personal counseling in order to help them get control of their lives again, and more. We're a small church, so we can't do everything, but we're committed to being there to help grow our people deeper in their walk with God, and stronger in their walk through life.
