Women's Ministries

ECC Women Ministries:

The Evangelical Covenant Church's Department of Women Ministries gives leadership to women's ministries throughout our denomination. Its ministries provide opportunities for spiritual growth and service in Jesus' name locally, regionally, denominationally and internationally, as well as for participation in ministries of the denomination. The annual meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church elects the Executive Minister of Women Ministries and a board representing the denomination's regional and ethnic diversity. With full recognition as a department of the Evangelical Covenant Church, it exists as a self-supporting ministry.

First Covenant Women's Ministries:

Our emphasis in our Women's Ministries here in Peoria is on "fellowship with a purpose," in the following three ways:

  • Fellowship within our church and group
  • Participating in community service projects
  • Fellowship with our nation and world through the national Women Ministries in their various projects.

First Covenant Women meet on the second Tuesday of the month in the library at 7 pm. Come and find out more about various service projects and how we can serve our church too. For more information call Laura Laninga (685-6350), Peggy Peryam (822-8775), or Carol Beall (685-5162).

Some of the exciting things going on here at First Covenant that you could be a part of include:

Beth Moore Bible Study Series

Studying "Believing God: Experiencing a Fresh Explosion of Faith."  The Thursday morning group meets from 9am to 11am, which will be led by Wendy Wright.  An evening group doing the same study will be meeting in the evenings.  Contact Wendy Wright (ph 263-6757) for more information.

Book Study: Carry Me

A study on Carry Me, Christine Wyrtzen’s book on allegories about relationships between women and our heavenly Father; which helps us to live joyfully, loved, and at peace. This group meets at 7 pm on the first and third Mondays of the month at the Laninga’s house. Contact Laura Laninga (ph 685-6350) for more information.

Parish Nurse Program

Marge Beall has spearheaded a parish nursing program in our church to help in monitoring and supporting the health and healthy practices of our church family. Several of our FCC nurses have pitched in to help, including Laura Laninga, Nena Gullette, and others.

Additional Ministries

We also offer a Saturday morning career women’s breakfast, service projects for the church and organizations in the community. Specific projects and times of the various meetings will be decided by the women getting together.
